In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, which included the work 'Brynhild II' racing off Cowes by John Steven Dews. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,420.00 (€ 25,119.39), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Steven Dews have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Westward Reaching Through Cowes Roads in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 178,095.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European & British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Brynhild II' racing off Cowes von John Steven Dews zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 21.420,00 (€ 25.119,39) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Steven Dews auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Westward Reaching Through Cowes Roads im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 120.000,00 (€ 178.095,02).
