Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Lady Boston, Née Christian Methuen (1750-1832) by John Smart was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,625.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Smart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Muhammad 'Ali Khan, Nawab Of Arcot And Prince Of The Carnatic (1718-1795) in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 120,500.00 (€ 153,620.47).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of Lady Boston, Née Christian Methuen (1750-1832) von John Smart kam im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.625,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
