The work Portrait Of A Gentleman by John Smart was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2020. It achieved a price of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,081.46), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Smart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Muhammad 'Ali Khan, Nawab Of Arcot And Prince Of The Carnatic (1718-1795) in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 120,500.00 (€ 153,620.47).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman von John Smart kam im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.081,46) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Smart erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Muhammad 'Ali Khan, Nawab Of Arcot And Prince Of The Carnatic (1718-1795) im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 120.500,00 (€ 153.620,47).
