Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait Of James Hunter Blair, Later Sir James, 1St Bt. (1741-1787) by John Smart was sold in the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,375.00 (€ 3,988.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Smart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Muhammad 'Ali Khan, Nawab Of Arcot And Prince Of The Carnatic (1718-1795) in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 120,500.00 (€ 153,620.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait Of James Hunter Blair, Later Sir James, 1St Bt.
