Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Humoresque by John Sloan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,312.50 (€ 22,426.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Sloan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Corpus Christi Procession in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 607,500.00 (€ 574,305.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Humoresque von John Sloan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.312,50 (€ 22.426,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Sloan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Corpus Christi Procession im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 607.500,00 (€ 574.305,16).
