Edition of 115 for the Weyhe (HFS)' in pencil, from the total edition of 190, published by Weyhe Gallery, New York, with wide margins, in generally good condition Image: 7 3 ⁄ 8 x 8 7 ⁄ 8 in. (187 x 225 mm.) Sheet: 13 1 ⁄ 2 x 18 in. (343 x 457 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Copyist at the Metropolitan Museum by John Sloan was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. The price achieved of USD 1,134.00 (€ 1,046.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Sloan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Corpus Christi Procession in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 607,500.00 (€ 574,305.16).

Die Arbeit Copyist at the Metropolitan Museum von John Sloan wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.134,00 (€ 1.046,22) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden.
