Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Portrait Of Mrs. Edwin S. Webster by John Singer Sargent. It changed hands for a price of USD 47,500.00 (€ 43,068.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singer Sargent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Geremia in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,087,500.00 (€ 7,787,060.84).

Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Mrs. Edwin S. Webster von John Singer Sargent zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 43.068,27) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Singer Sargent erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit San Geremia im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.087.500,00 (€ 7.787.060,84).
