Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A three-master and other shipping in a stiff offshore breeze by John Moore of Ipswich. The price achieved of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,715.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Admittedly, works by John Moore of Ipswich have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A trading brig in a heavy swell running down the coast in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,198.09).
