In February 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Shipping off Dover; and Shipping off Dover Castle by John Moore of Ipswich for USD 3,600.00 (€ 2,712.07). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime including Scientific & Medical Instruments at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by John Moore of Ipswich have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A trading brig in a heavy swell running down the coast in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,198.09).
