Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Moore of Ipswich could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime Pictures auction, the work Fishing schooners coming out of port, possibly Newhaven (illustrated); and A peaceful stretch of the river changed hands for GBP 597.50 (€ 896.47) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Moore of Ipswich achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A trading brig in a heavy swell running down the coast in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,198.09).
