In August 2021 Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Jeune Mere, c.1891 by John Longstaff. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 22,140.00 (€ 18,762.71), 48% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Longstaff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Master Rupert Ryan, 1898, which sold at auction in August 2021 for AUD 61,500.00 (€ 52,118.64).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
Im August 2021 führte Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jeune Mere, c.1891 von John Longstaff zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 22.140,00 (€ 18.762,71) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Longstaff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Master Rupert Ryan, 1898 beobachtet, die im August 2021 für AUD 61.500,00 (€ 52.118,64) versteigert wurde.
