It achieved a price of AUD 8,225.00 (€ 4,961.74), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 65%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Longstaff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Master Rupert Ryan, 1898 in August 2021 with an auction result of AUD 61,500.00 (€ 52,118.64).

Die Arbeit Portrait of a young woman von John Longstaff wurde im November 2003 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 8.225,00 (€ 4.961,74) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 65%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Longstaff erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Master Rupert Ryan, 1898 im August 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 61.500,00 (€ 52.118,64).
