Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2010 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Candida, Suzanne and Cicely lining up for the start, 1910 by John J. Holmes. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,611.00) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John J. Holmes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Astra, Candida and Shamrock (V) racing off Cowes, 1934, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,238.11).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Mai 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Candida, Suzanne and Cicely lining up for the start, 1910 von John J. Holmes zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.611,00) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John J. Holmes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Astra, Candida and Shamrock (V) racing off Cowes, 1934 beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 2.880,00 (€ 4.238,11) versteigert wurde.
