Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of George Villiers, Duke Of Buckingham (1592-1628) by John Hoskins was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2010. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,029.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hoskins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A gentleman called Inigo Jones, in black gown, white lawn collar with tassels, black skull cap, long curling brown hair, moustache and small pointed beard; pillar and landscape background with castle in the distance, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 36,500.00 (€ 51,109.44).
