Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III, which included the work Portrait Of Sir Thomas Peyton, 2Nd Bt. (1613-1684), 1648 by John Hoskins. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,136.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hoskins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A gentleman called Inigo Jones, in black gown, white lawn collar with tassels, black skull cap, long curling brown hair, moustache and small pointed beard; pillar and landscape background with castle in the distance in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 36,500.00 (€ 51,109.44).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A gentleman called Inigo Jones, in black gown, white lawn collar with tassels, black skull cap, long curling brown hair, moustache and small pointed beard; pillar and landscape background with castle in the distance im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.500,00 (€ 51.109,44).
