A top price for John Frederick Peto - as previously expected
The work Old Time Letter Rack by John Frederick Peto was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 850,000.00 (€ 773,148.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Old Time Letter Rack is the most expensive artwork by John Frederick Peto that we have observed at auctions so far.
