In the From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection auction, the work Books and Inkwell sold for USD 37,800.00 (€ 34,813.04) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Peto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Old Time Letter Rack in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 850,000.00 (€ 773,148.99).

In der Auktion From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection wurde die Arbeit Books and Inkwell für USD 37.800,00 (€ 34.813,04) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Peto erzielen.
