The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,126.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Francis Murphy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Autumn Afternoon in June 2000 with an auction result of USD 28,200.00 (€ 29,544.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Autumn Afternoon von John Francis Murphy kam im September 2009 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.126,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Francis Murphy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Autumn Afternoon im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.200,00 (€ 29.544,26).
