Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Little Village by John Francis Murphy was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,402.50 (€ 1,191.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Francis Murphy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Autumn Afternoon in June 2000 with an auction result of USD 28,200.00 (€ 29,544.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Little Village von John Francis Murphy im Juli 2020 bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.402,50 (€ 1.191,18) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Francis Murphy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Autumn Afternoon im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.200,00 (€ 29.544,26).
