In December last year Christies in London held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Anthony Adrian, 7th Earl of Kintore on Tom of Lincoln, hunting in an extensive landscape by John Ferneley, Sen.. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,340.00 (€ 12,801.76), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Ferneley, Sen. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silver firs at Osberton in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 692,000.00 (€ 1,018,324.83).
