When the work Silver firs at Osberton by John Ferneley, Sen. was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 692,000.00 (€ 1,018,324.83). Despite this disappointing result, Silver firs at Osberton is the most expensive artwork by John Ferneley, Sen. that we have observed at auction so far.
