Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mr. H.H.H. Hungerford'S Second Horse Clinker, Held By His Groom With Huntsman And Hounds In The Distance by John Ferneley, Sen. was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,089.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Ferneley, Sen. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silver firs at Osberton in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 692,000.00 (€ 1,018,324.83).
