Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2000 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work The old hut in June by John Faulkner. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 258.50 (€ 432.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Faulkner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Crookhaven, Co. Cork in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,861.17).
