Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction Irish and 20th Century British Art, which included the work Shipping off a rocky coastline, Dublin Bay by John Faulkner. The price achieved of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,482.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Faulkner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Crookhaven, Co. Cork, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,861.17).

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion Irish and 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping off a rocky coastline, Dublin Bay von John Faulkner zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.987,50 (€ 4.482,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Faulkner mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Crookhaven, Co. Cork beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 6.572,50 (€ 9.861,17) versteigert wurde.
