This artwork by John Cyril Harrison achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2015. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art auction, the work Mallards At The Water'S Edge; And A Pair Of French Partridges sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,941.04) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Cyril Harrison; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ptarmigan in mid plumage sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,335.36).
