In November 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Post-War British Art, which included the work Seated Figure by John Craxton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 69,300.00 (€ 77,362.19), 39% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Craxton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) in June this year with an auction result of GBP 343,300.00 (€ 399,542.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im November 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Post-War British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Figure von John Craxton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 69.300,00 (€ 77.362,19) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Craxton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 343.300,00 (€ 399.542,10).
