This artwork by John Craxton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in November 2021. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Portrait of an Old Man (Old Cretan) sold for GBP 32,750.00 (€ 38,451.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Craxton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) in June this year with an auction result of GBP 343,300.00 (€ 399,542.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 82 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Craxton erzielte im November 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of an Old Man (Old Cretan) für GBP 32.750,00 (€ 38.451,58) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Craxton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 343.300,00 (€ 399.542,10).
