This artwork by John Craxton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May last year. In the The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship auction, the work Two Goats among Rocks sold for GBP 100,800.00 (€ 118,581.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Craxton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree), which sold at auction in June this year for GBP 343,300.00 (€ 399,542.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Craxton erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship wurde die Arbeit Two Goats among Rocks für GBP 100.800,00 (€ 118.581,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Craxton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) beobachtet, die im Juni diesen Jahres für GBP 343.300,00 (€ 399.542,10) versteigert wurde.
