In May last year Christies in London held the auction The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship, which included the work Study for Cretan Gorge III by John Craxton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,269.51), 37% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Craxton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) in June this year with an auction result of GBP 343,300.00 (€ 399,542.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for Cretan Gorge III von John Craxton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 16.380,00 (€ 19.269,51) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Craxton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 343.300,00 (€ 399.542,10).
