Auction result misses estimated price range
In November this year a collector was able to acquire the work Rare Bird, 1987 by John Coburn for AUD 738.00 (€ 447.48). This price was achieved in the auction Australian Art Online at Bonhams in Sydney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Coburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Icon, 1970 in November 2021 with an auction result of AUD 387,450.00 (€ 343,271.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Rare Bird, 1987 von John Coburn für AUD 738,00 (€ 447,48) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Australian Art Online bei Bonhams in Sydney erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Coburn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Icon, 1970 im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 387.450,00 (€ 343.271,02).
