Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work An East Indiaman In Three Positions by John Cleveley the Elder. The price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 52,003.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Cleveley the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work King George Iii Reviewing The Fleet At Spithead, Off Portsmouth Harbour in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 290,500.00 (€ 373,969.84).
