This artwork by John Christopherson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2007. In the British, Continental & Russian Pictures auction, the work Moonlit Grove (2); Village Path; And Four Trees At Night sold for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,547.81) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Christopherson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Moonlit Grove 2 55 x 43cm (21 5/8 x 16 15/16in) unframed sold at auction in April this year with the realized price of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,632.71).
