In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Lane Near St. Ives (2) by John Christopherson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,358.83), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Christopherson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Moonlit Grove 2 55 x 43cm (21 5/8 x 16 15/16in) unframed, which sold at auction in April this year for GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,632.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lane Near St. Ives (2) von John Christopherson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.358,83) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Christopherson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Moonlit Grove 2 55 x 43cm (21 5/8 x 16 15/16in) unframed beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.632,71) versteigert wurde.
