It achieved a price of GBP 3,824.00 (€ 6,048.89), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 27%. Admittedly, works by John Alexander have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Good Fences Make Good Neighbors in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 52,947.41).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Lord Lewis Gordon, aged 13, half-length, in a blue coat and a gold waistcoat, feigned oval von John Alexander kam im Oktober 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 3.824,00 (€ 6.048,89) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 27%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Alexander auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Good Fences Make Good Neighbors im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 52.947,41).
