Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of Lord Charles Gordon (c.1721-1780), aged 17, half-length, in a red coat with a gold-embroidered waistcoat, feigned oval by John Alexander was sold in the THE SCOTTISH SALE auction at Christies in London in October 2002. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,939.17). Admittedly, works by John Alexander have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Good Fences Make Good Neighbors in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 52,947.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Lord Charles Gordon (c.1721-1780), aged 17, half-length, in a red coat with a gold-embroidered waistcoat, feigned oval von John Alexander wurde im Oktober 2002 in der Auktion THE SCOTTISH SALE bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 5.019,00 (€ 7.939,17) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Alexander auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Good Fences Make Good Neighbors im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 52.947,41).
