This artwork by Johannes Frederik Hulk achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2006. In the British, Continental and Russian Pictures auction, the work A busy Dutch harbour; and The fleet preparing for departure sold for GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,315.24) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johannes Frederik Hulk achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Amsterdam in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 31,200.00 (€ 45,836.74).
