Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait of Admiral Jan van Galen (1604-1653), half-length, seated, in a black doublet with a gold sash; and Portrait of his wife, Maria van Cracau (b. 1617), half-length, seated, holding a lemon by Johannes Cornelisz. Verspronck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 112,500.00 (€ 123,517.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Johannes Cornelisz. Verspronck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Jean le Gouche (1588-1669), half-length, in a brown coat and lace collar, holding a hat in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 880,000.00 (€ 644,216.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Admiral Jan van Galen (1604-1653), half-length, seated, in a black doublet with a gold sash; and Portrait of his wife, Maria van Cracau (b. 1617), half-length, seated, holding a lemon von Johannes Cornelisz.
