Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Johann Zoffany could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction, the work Portrait Of Benjamin Stillingfleet (1702-1771) changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 11,001.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johann Zoffany achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Garden At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick Taking Tea; And The Shakespeare Temple At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,761,250.00 (€ 8,097,551.93).
