Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Frontispiece For An Extraordinary Genius In Music by Johann Zoffany was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,775.27). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johann Zoffany achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Garden At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick Taking Tea; And The Shakespeare Temple At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,761,250.00 (€ 8,097,551.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Frontispiece For An Extraordinary Genius In Music von Johann Zoffany im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.775,27) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Johann Zoffany erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Garden At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick Taking Tea; And The Shakespeare Temple At Hampton House, With Mr And Mrs David Garrick im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.761.250,00 (€ 8.097.551,93).
