The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,810.00 (€ 3,457.35), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel-Peter Witkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).

Die Arbeit Savior of the Primates (New Mexico) von Joel-Peter Witkin wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art: Online Auction bei Phillips in 17 - versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.810,00 (€ 3.457,35) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Kiss im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14).
