Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Phillips in 17 - held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art: Online Auction, which included the work Leda (Los Angeles) by Joel-Peter Witkin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,159.00 (€ 1,959.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel-Peter Witkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Phillips in 17 - die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art: Online Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Leda (Los Angeles) von Joel-Peter Witkin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.159,00 (€ 1.959,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Kiss im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14).
