Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Miravet by Joaquim Mir was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 115,250.00 (€ 139,345.91). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joaquim Mir - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spanish ruinas Del Castillo De San Tueri, Felanitx (The Ruins Of The Castle Of San Tueri In Felanitx), which sold at auction in May 2015 for GBP 221,000.00 (€ 307,277.24).
