Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spanish sóller, Mallorca by Joaquim Mir was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 139,261.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joaquim Mir - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spanish ruinas Del Castillo De San Tueri, Felanitx (The Ruins Of The Castle Of San Tueri In Felanitx), which sold at auction in May 2015 for GBP 221,000.00 (€ 307,277.24).
