Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Lone Vigil by Jehangir Sabavala. Here, the upper estimate of USD 650,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 721,800.00 (€ 614,664.06). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jehangir Sabavala - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Embarkation, which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 1,590,000.00 (€ 1,373,412.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lone Vigil von Jehangir Sabavala zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 650.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 721.800,00 (€ 614.664,06) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jehangir Sabavala mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Embarkation beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 1.590.000,00 (€ 1.373.412,80) versteigert wurde.
