In September 2020 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work The Peasants by Jehangir Sabavala. The »bidding war« ended at USD 966,000.00 (€ 824,372.76), 61% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jehangir Sabavala; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Embarkation sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of USD 1,590,000.00 (€ 1,373,412.80).

Im September 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Peasants von Jehangir Sabavala zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 966.000,00 (€ 824.372,76) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jehangir Sabavala; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Embarkation im September 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 1.590.000,00 (€ 1.373.412,80).
