Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The First Kiss of the Sun by Jean-Léon Gérôme was sold in the British and European Art auction at Christies in New York in July this year. The price achieved of GBP 315,000.00 (€ 367,509.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jean-Léon Gérôme have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Riders Crossing The Desert in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,135,000.00 (€ 3,636,375.17).

Die Arbeit The First Kiss of the Sun von Jean-Léon Gérôme wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 315.000,00 (€ 367.509,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Léon Gérôme auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Riders Crossing The Desert im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.135.000,00 (€ 3.636.375,17).
