Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tiger on the Watch by Jean-Léon Gérôme was sold in the European & British Art, Part I auction at Sothebys in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 97,803.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Léon Gérôme achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Riders Crossing The Desert in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,135,000.00 (€ 3,636,375.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Tiger on the Watch von Jean-Léon Gérôme wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion European & British Art, Part I bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 81.900,00 (€ 97.803,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Léon Gérôme erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Riders Crossing The Desert im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.135.000,00 (€ 3.636.375,17).
