In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Figures by moored gondolas at night, a Venetian capriccio by Jean Laurent. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 376.00 (€ 614.66), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Laurent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Photographique 'Sevilla', Années 1860/70Album With 104 Albumen Prints On Original Cards, Each Titled, Numbered And With The Photographer'S Name Copied In The Negative At The Lower Edge. in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 9,375.00.

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 376,00 (€ 614,66) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Laurent erzielen.
