mezzotint with roulette and engraving, circa 1778-80, on laid paper, indistinct Words watermark, a very good impression of this rare and important print, a proof before letters, with wide margins, a horizontal printer's crease, flattened folds at the left and right of the image and along the platemark below, some pale staining in the margins, otherwise in good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Large Self-Portrait by Jean-Etienne Liotard was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in New York in January 2019. Here, the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 75,000.00 (€ 65,479.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Etienne Liotard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dutch Girl At Breakfast in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 4,405,000.00 (€ 5,234,092.94).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Large Self-Portrait von Jean-Etienne Liotard wurde im Januar 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 75.000,00 (€ 65.479,31) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Etienne Liotard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Dutch Girl At Breakfast im Juli 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.405.000,00 (€ 5.234.092,94).
