It achieved a price of GBP 46,850.00 (€ 51,271.29), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 34%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Hilaire - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Sultan Abd-ul Hamid I standing in front of a golden throne, a domed palace in the distance, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 157,000.00 (€ 105,788.02).

Die Arbeit French Vue De L'Acropole von Jean-Baptiste Hilaire kam im November 2009 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 46.850,00 (€ 51.271,29) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 34%. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Hilaire mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Sultan Abd-ul Hamid I standing in front of a golden throne, a domed palace in the distance beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 157.000,00 (€ 105.788,02) versteigert wurde.
